Refund Policy
The honest version of this page is one sentence long: HabitStakes 1.0.0 (2) cannot charge you anything, so there is nothing that could be refunded. The rest explains what that means and what would change if that ever did.
1. There is nothing to refund
HabitStakes 1.0.0 (2) contains no purchases, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no paid unlocks, and no way for us to take payment from you. No money is charged, held, transferred, forfeited, donated, or paid out at any point. Because no payment can ever occur in this release, there is no transaction that could be cancelled, reversed, disputed, or refunded — by us, by a payment provider, or by anyone else.
2. Why there is no charge
This is a structural fact about the build, not a policy choice we could quietly reverse:
- The app is not connected to a payment processor, merchant account, or custody provider.
- There is no card entry, wallet, top-up, balance, or stored value anywhere in the app.
- There is no StoreKit purchase, subscription, consumable, or paid tier offered.
- Real money movement is disabled at the build level, so no remote configuration or server flag could switch it on.
- The app has no HabitStakes backend to process a payment through.
The app states this internally too: the Money safety screen shows “Real payments are off”, and Settings shows Real payments: Off and Current payment mode: Test only.
3. “Forfeited” is a record, not a charge
When a commitment day ends below its target, HabitStakes marks that day’s share as forfeited. That word describes the state of a local record. It does not mean money left your account, went to us, went to a charity, or went anywhere at all, because no money was ever taken in the first place.
Forfeited and protected amounts have no cash value. They cannot be redeemed, withdrawn, transferred, restored, credited, or converted into anything. A forfeited day therefore cannot be “refunded” either — there is no sum to return. If a day was recorded as forfeited because Health data arrived late, a later successful refresh can still upgrade it to protected; that is a correction to a record, not a financial adjustment. See section 4 of the Terms.
4. If you believe you were charged
If you see a charge you associate with HabitStakes, it did not come from this app, because this app has no mechanism to create one. Please check the following:
- Your Apple purchase history. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Media & Purchases › View Account › Purchase History. All App Store billing is handled by Apple, not by us.
- Similarly named apps. Confirm the charge names HabitStakes by Scaling Adventures LLC and not a different app with a similar name.
- Your subscriptions list. Settings › your name › Subscriptions shows every active App Store subscription. HabitStakes will not appear there, because it does not offer one.
- Your bank or card issuer, if the charge is not in your Apple purchase history at all.
If something still looks wrong, email support@scalingadventures.com with the date, amount, and the exact descriptor shown on the statement. Do not send full card numbers, security codes, or bank credentials — we do not need them and cannot use them. We will tell you honestly what we can see, which for App Store matters is generally nothing beyond what Apple reports to developers in aggregate; refunds for App Store transactions are handled by Apple.
5. If paid features are ever introduced
No paid functionality is announced, scheduled, or promised. If it ever is, this is how it would work, and this page would be rewritten before it shipped:
- Nothing would be charged without new, explicit consent. Revised Terms and a clear disclosure would be presented first, and no existing commitment created under this release would retroactively become paid.
- App Store purchases are Apple transactions. If a purchase or subscription were offered through the App Store, Apple would be the merchant for that transaction, Apple’s billing terms would apply, and refund requests would be made to Apple — typically through Report a Problem in your Apple purchase history — and decided by Apple under its policies. We cannot issue, force, or block an App Store refund.
- Subscription management stays with you. Any subscription would be cancellable in iOS Settings, and cancelling stops future renewals rather than refunding a period already paid, except where refund law or Apple’s policy provides otherwise.
- Statutory refund and withdrawal rights would apply. Consumer law in your jurisdiction — for example statutory cancellation or cooling-off rights — would apply in addition to Apple’s process, and any published policy would be written to sit alongside those rights, not to replace them.
- Anything involving real funds needs more than a policy page. Charging, holding, forfeiting, or transferring real money raises payment, custody, tax, eligibility, and jurisdictional questions that must be settled with qualified counsel and with Apple before such a feature could launch. Until that is done, the answer stays the one at the top of this page.
6. Your statutory rights
Nothing on this page limits, waives, or replaces rights you have under consumer-protection or refund law where you live. Where such law gives you a right that conflicts with anything here, that law wins. This page describes the current release factually; it does not attempt to disclaim rights that apply to a transaction that has not happened.

Drafting note: this policy was written to describe the shipped HabitStakes build accurately and in plain English. It is not legal advice to Scaling Adventures LLC, and no regulator has reviewed or approved it. Qualified counsel should review it, and it must be replaced with a complete cancellation, refund, dispute, and chargeback policy before any paid or real-money functionality is offered.
